Rework


Hey, I am currently working on completely re-coding the entire game because the code from past me is so spread out and random that I have no idea what goes where and what does what ;-;

Anyways just wanted to let you know that we are continuing development. I am working on simplifying a lot of the code especially with the inventory, I have also been able to find and squish some new bugs as-well as change things. I will continue to update this post as I do more stuff and everything will be released in the 7.3 update.

11/25/24

  • Sprinting removes 0.01 less hunger (Sprinting takes away 0.01)
  • Player can only sprint if they have more than 1 hunger
  • Sprint now is gradual instead of instant, sprint increased by 15 every tick until reaching 200+ and stopping
  • Fixed issue with inventory slots 2 and 3
  • Reduced gradual sanity loss by 1
  • Inventory display is now decided by 4 lines of code which should help the minor performance drop
  • I have completely re-worked the hot-bar system which should help with the bugs causing unlimited use items or unusable items

11/26/24

  • Health will slowly increase instead of being a static increase
  • reduced gradual hunger loss by 1
  • Completely reworked how loot and item picking up and dropping works
  • Overheal will decrease slower

11/27/24

  • fixed an  issue with the UI lagging/jolting around when moving
  • also fixed a weird bug with the screen locking on and off of the player
  • On death it will now display days and hours survived
  • Fixed the void giving unlimited sanity
  • Sanity gain from void lowered to 1 every second
  • Changed noclip chance from 1/12 to 1/20
  • You can now be randomly noclipped out of the void
  • When leaving the void you will have a chance to go to any level currently in the game
  • Players and creatures will both take equal damage from fire, however the player will take damage every 1 second while creatures will take damage every 0.5 seconds from fire
  • Decreases chance to get sick after being scratched by a a Hound from 1/2 to 1/8
  • Fixed bug where player would gain 6 infection from hound scratch
  • Player will receive extra sickness from hounds if they have already been infected and not cured more than twice
  • Blackouts will occur less frequently, time increased from 180s to 360s 
  • Increased child facelings speed to 2
  •  Nutrisha now will look at the player, it was buggy before for some reason, also idk when but I think Nutrisha got named to Minerva/The Mother but idk I might be thinking about different things, the backrooms wiki seems to of gone through a lot of changes
  • All of the loot pools got changed up, crayons can grant up to 12, hair and lint can give up to 10, cash and coins can give up to 5, and shoelaces can give up to 2, everything else is still 1.
  • Empty Bottle is now a misc item for crafting instead of a item that takes up a hotbar slot
  • Fixed a bug that caused chests to spawn unlimited items
  • Fixed an issue with the "E" popup text spawning thousands of itself
  • Added player dialogue, the player will speak about some items they pick up, mainly crafting materials

11/29/24

  • Fixed the issues with dropping items
  • Fixed issues with using items
  • Needle now has greater chance to cure the sickness caused by the Hounds IF you are infected by the hound virus
  • Added text when using consumable items and molotov
  • Each entity will be given a 6 letter name randomly generated, this will be for entity on entity targeting
  • Increased Scratcher attack rate by 1
  • Increased hound attack rate by 2
  • Fixed the hounds running backwards
  • Fixed issues with hound pathfinding
  • Lowered hound agro time by 10s
  • Lowered hound speed by 50
  • Fixed scratcher not looking at player

Remember these are not in effect yet, if you do not see a 7.3 devlog on the itch page then these changes are not in effect.
